In 1978 Joni Hill-Willever established Blue Valley Riding Center. Joni grew up fox hunting and was a whipper-in at 14 with the Berry Hollow Fox Hunt. Just a year later, she began breaking horses while also showing in the hunters and jumpers. At 19, Joni’s training program took shape and Blue Valley Riding Center opened its doors for training, lessons, and showing. She started and showed the leading hunter in PA on the AQHA circuit and 3rd Nationally. In 1984, she married Terry Willever who was an avid gymkhana rider and Quarter Horse breeder. Together, they brought a well-rounded knowledge of horsemanship to their business. The barn is very family oriented, with its focus on developing successful riders that have a good sense of horsemanship from the ground-up. Many champions and great success stories started here, including their own two daughters.
Hayley started riding and showing at the early age of three. She had many successes in the pony hunter and amateur owner rings. She turned professional in 2011 after graduating from ESU with a Business Management degree. Hayley has a passion for developing riders and training them at horse shows as well as bringing along young ponies. Her and her husband Alec have two children, Isla and Alastair, both who have begun riding their pony Walla Walla Bing Bang.
Taylor has also been riding and showing since the age of three. She has trained under Joni Willever, Troy Hendricks, and Gary Kunsman. She had a successful career in both the junior and amateur rings, winning many tricolors at Devon, WEF, and indoors on her mounts. Taylor turned professional in 2016 after graduating from ESU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. She has a passion for training, showing, sales and does teach on occasion.
